Race points, retained championship scores and constructor awards answer different questions. These reviewed cases illustrate the distinction; official source standings remain intact.
John Surtees retained 40 points; Graham Hill retained 39. Hill's recorded race awards total 41, but only his best six scores counted. Simply adding every result changes the answer.

The pinned FIA Section A, Issue 02 (27 February 2026), Article A2.2 defines distinct race-distance award bands and a sprint threshold. The implementation requires explicit final eligibility, reviewed distance and consecutive green-lap evidence. Later amendments, dead heats and adjudicated penalties need separate review.
Pinned regulation ↗Unknown awards stay unknown. Source decimal precision is not converted into guessed historical fractions. No hypothetical calculation replaces an official championship table.
